October 2019: SAMA USA (€7,590) with SAMA-CANADA (€2,956.80) donated 2 pulse oxymeters, 2 EKGs, 2 infusion pumps (donation Value: €10,546.80) to Studenica Hospital.  Total donation to this institution is approx. €18,000 (plus ACs few years back) -

About Studenica Hospital: Kraljevo is a city in central Serbia and the administrative center of the Raška District in central Serbia. It is situated on the confluence of West Morava and Ibar, in the geographical region of Šumadija, between the mountains of Kotlenik in the north, and Stolovi in the south. The city urban area has a population of about 68,000 inhabitants, while the city administrative area has about 125,000 inhabitants. With an area of 1530 km², it is the largest municipality (after Belgrade) in Serbia by area.Building of Kraljevo hospital began in 1970s using design of a German hospital with a very functional layout. This hospital has capacity of 580 beds. The primary focus of the Hospital is to serve Raska region. However, it serves a lot of patients coming from Kosovo and Novi Pazar region too.Kraljevo was heavily bombed during the NATO campaign in 1999, and the Hospital staff believes that has resulted in significant cancer incidents increase among children and young patients. SAMA Donations in 2018 and 2019 definitely help because these small instruments are heavily used, but really budgeted for in capital equipment plans.

About SAMA Donations to this Hospital: SAMA initially donated 3 bilirubin lamps for treating baby jaundice to the neonatology ward in December of 2018. Subsequently we followed with another donation in 2019, that was initially intended for infectous decease ward of the clinic. However, once the donation was delivered to the Hospital, the staff realized that pulse oxymeters as delivered are most suitable for pediatric care, and placed the instruments were they will be the most used. SAMA donated 2 pulse oxymeters Masimo Radical 7, 2 12-canal ECGs Nihon Kohden 2250K, and 2 infusion pumps Codan Argus 717V. SAMA USA donated the pulse oxymeters and ECGs while SAMA Canada donated the infusion pumps. The complete donation was executed through Trivax Doo, Belgrade, ensuring the local support and training, it was delivered in October 2019, and it was all in operation prior to our visit.

On behalf of SAMA, Jelena and Zoran Mladenović, visited Studenica Hospital in October of 2019 and met with: dr Miroslav Milenković, radiologist, Assistant Director for Diagnostic affairsdr Srđan Vukašinović, Head of the Pediatric Wardvms Marija Mijajlović, Head NurseZora Krunić, Assistant Director for non medical affairs.  We visited 3 Hospital wards, infectuous dicease ward, pediatric medicine with neonatology and internal medicine ward. Two infusion pumps are deployed at the Infectous dicease ward, the nurses are very happy with quality and performance of these devices. Pulse oxymeters were more suitable for pediatric use. Therefore they were deployed to Pediatric ward, and used as both mobile (in ambulances due to their small size and long battery life) and stationary equipment. When we toured the pediatric unit with Dr. Vukašinović, we were pleasantly suprised how nicely decorated and childen friendly it is (the got help from students of the local art school in decorating this ward - the right initiative goes a long way). The ward has 35 beds, and handles all ages from new borns to 18 yr olds as well as all types of ilnesses including cancers. Dr. Vukašinović believes that with this new donation they are quite well equiped too.
